I think this feature could be great for finding info you want quicker. An example of how it could be implemented (the usage) could be implemented like how the Webstorm IDE does (see image attached)
The left most button is a toggle for the regex feature (if not toggled it would search "normally"), and the other two buttons are to match case and whole words, respectively.
I think this feature could be a great addition for people who want to search for a very specific type of information without knowing exactly what information they want and could boost productivity while searching through large heaps of text.
