I recently switched from Chrome to Opera and work with the desktop browser under macOS High Sierra and the Opera browser for Android on my smartphone.

Now I have tested the flow-function, but so far it only works only on one side, that means: I can send content from the desktop browser to the "Flow" and open it with the flow-symbol on the Android browser.
Conversely, I can also send content from the Android browser to the "Flow", but I am unable to open it with the desktop browser, since it appears that the flow-symbol here can only be used to send.

How can I open the content sent from the smartphone via "Flow" on the desktop browser?

You can copy the address and bookmark it to have access with sidebar disabled

@zenobit Click on the Flow icon in sidebar.

Okay that works … but is this feature only available in the sidebar? I ask because normally I have hidden the sidebar.
