  • Just for curiosity, your tag/icon leads to which folder?

  • Ok I see the case has two topics already, let me jump here and leave the second alone.

    First of all @Lecog

Well, not necessarily. More options can also mean more trouble.

R u for real? Nice logic like "I better stay @ home, there are so many dangerous things out of there e.g. I could die crossing the street" gg

I'm not against options but adding them just for having them is not good.

    I wrote

For my case I need it for adding .torrent files for utorent automaticaly by one click.

Ok, maybe english isn't my native language but I think I said I want to use it as I used @ 12.XX so it is kinda far away from "just for having" FFS.

And again, "unknown folder" , "more trouble" it's blablabla.
I see you are defending the lack of "open" hard just because and worrying on others, pls don't.

many people thinks that "open" means that nothing will be downloaded and the file will be gone after have been closed, what is not necessarily true.

It you really care it could be done that typing "open" means puting the file to temp folder which could be cleared automatically on exit or whatever. I don't really care how it would work, I know how it was done @ 12 and it was ok for me, "Open" option @ dialogbox is a must.
Opera downloads a lot of files to the temp without asking you for accept, there could be dangerous files also so give a break.

  • Just for curiosity, your tag/icon leads to which folder?

I was wrong - "About Opera" now does not show that path among others.
    "...\Local Settings\Application Data\Opera\Opera...".

  • Tjall, about the dangerous files see suggestion 2 in my OP here. 🆙

  • R u for real?

    Afaik, yes. 🙂

Nice logic like "I better stay @ home, there are so many dangerous things out of there e.g. I could die crossing the street" gg

It's just my opinion based on lots of post in the old forum during Presto years from people who managed to have problems due to Opera having lots of options and features.

Btw, it would be more like "I'm not sure about the directions to somewhere, suddenly the road gives me 3, 4 different ways to take. Which one should i choose? If i choose the wrong one, how can i come back to this point to be able to choose another?"

Ok, maybe english isn't my native language but I think I said I want to use it as I used @ 12.XX so it is kinda far away from "just for having" FFS.

I was talking about features in general.

I just showed the reason (or one of them) given by Opera.

    "...\Local Settings\Application Data\Opera\Opera...".

But this is not the folder to where a file is downloaded when you choose "Open" instead of "Save". Those files usually ends in your %temp% folder.

  • You're right...<abbr title="There's a folder there - in that location."> </abbr>

  •

As I said, it's in the usual place.
All you need is to right-click on any such temporary file/download line/item in your "Downloads" page, and choose "Open folder". That's it.

Well, it may work while the file is in the list. What may not be that long.

  • What's the difference! You once take it - make an icon for it somewhere (and remember the path).
Usually in truOpera, large enough files go through opening the "Downloads" page. Even small ones happen to sometimes. So you'll have lots of opportunities for taking/accessing/whatevering your "temporary_dowloads" folder. Save you can just search for it with its name*:P*

And besides, the developers may deliver for that - e.g. making such a folder known, or even user defined (to an extent).
Though, as I said, it won't ever be a problem for anybody (see previous replies).

  • There used to be a problem in Opera Presto that removed the file from the download list just after Opera have been closed, in certain circumstances.

Also i don't remember if files that you chose to open were listed as downloadeds.

    Then what?

First, here we have a suggestion box - means for things that are not implemented yet.
SO LET THEM IMPLEMENT such a thing as "Full list of downloads"😛
    :)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Second — why in the Voodoo Blackmegic-specialistbaba's name a regular user should need that folder, huh? Let the browser handle it! 😛

  • the road gives me 3, 4 different ways to take. Which one should i choose? If i choose the wrong one, how can i come back to this point to be able to choose another?"

U made my day, that is masterpiece to set having one more (ergo, two together options) against such dilemmas 😃
The Opera won't hurt you, but in case somebody else would also have such serious problems 'choosing dilemma', he would always RTFM first.

  • Then what?

Then you will have to look into some hiden folder to find the file if you need to open it again.

Or maybe you could be one of those "paranoid" people that wants to be able to easily remove the file from your HDD.

    We already have one. 🙂

They don't even use Opera. 🙂

Apart from that you were told several times that it won't be a case in any normal situation,

    We already have one. 🙂
    ["Full list of downloads"]

  • +1 especially for the return of good old download dialog including file source, size, type, ... + option to run/open this file automatically after finished download

  • One of the things I really disklike about Chrome is that it clutters up my HDD by automatically saving everything to the Downloads folder. 90% of my downloads are a one-time thing, and I want them saved to a temporary folder which is periodically automatically cleared out (such as C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Temp for Windows, \tmp\ for Linux, and the equivalent for Macs). If I actually do want a file permanently, then 90% of the time I want it saved somewhere besides the Downloads folder. That leaves 1% of the time in my usage scenario when the default behavior works for me.

It's one of the killer features I like about Internet Explorer (gasp!). Everyone has their niggling annoyances, and this is mine. Opera 12.xx let us do what we wanted, and when y'all developers have time, I would really appreciate this feature. Good job on getting bookmarks a big part of the way there, though!

  • i have never liked the download manager of opera mini.it should support background download.
btw....some comments here are too lenghty.summarise them.we dont need any president's speech here.

  • +1
I also want an option to run/open a file automatically after finished download.

  • I'm assuming the OP is suggesting a dialogue box when you click a download asking "Run" "Save" "Save As" or "Cancel"
I'd like to see this as I almost always have to right click then "Save linked content as..."
Many times I will accidentally click it and it goes straight to my downloads folder, causing me to have to do more file organization
If the downloads tab ... thing in the top right corner could remove the download instead of just pausing it, that would be great as well, instead of having to pause the download, open the "show more" downloads tab, THEN remove the download.
Either a dialogue box as suggested, or a remove this download button in the downloads drop down menu in the top right corner.
    Please please PLEASE
I've used Opera for years, and this is the first suggestion I've ever had.
