<p dir="auto">I just made a fresh install of Opera, version 78 on Linux Mint. I'm an Opera user from decades and this never happened before. Menus have large, black borders. <p dir="auto">It looks like (after viewing opera://gpu/) that --use-gl=desktop disables Google ANGLE and uses the system version of GL.</p>

You have to disable "Use hardware acceleration when available" option in Menu-Settings. Another way you can try to launch Opera with --use-gl=desktop key, as it was mentioned above.</p>

I have the same issue, I've also tried turning off hardware accel but the settings were already off or disabled by default.<br />
Running with NVIDIA drivers (just updated those too) but no change.<br />
Compositor is picom.<br />

<p dir="auto">If you are talking about the horizontal lines in the menu, those are not part of the bug -- they are menu item separators. They are there even if hardware acceleration is turned of (well at least for me anyway) .</p>
