Simply, there is barely any space where I could place the mouse cursor that is not a link by design.</p>
<p dir="auto">And on these sites, I frequently run into a problem with Opera as it follows (e.g. clicks) automatically and without user interaction the first link where I let the mouse rest for 3 seconds or so.</p>
<p dir="auto">Is there a way to turn this behavior off, by settings, via extension?</p>
<p dir="auto">Many thanks for any advice!</p>

No idea about extensions.</p>
<p dir="auto">To be honest, I don't remember even have seen it happening.</p>
<p dir="auto">Did you try disabling javascript for the page?</p>
