It was written in 2018 so may not be accurate now but it gives a non-tech overview. Also you may be interested to know that Chromium is used by a heap of the major browser suppliers. Here is a list of 10 I found here - although the 'best' will differ based on the definition being used to say something is better than another (being 7ft tall is best in the NBA, but far from the best if you are a jockey 😁 ):

So perhaps a better way to word the question may have been 'does Chromium collect in personal information and share it with google?'

Nope, it's based on Chromium, just like Chrome is.
