It was written in 2018 so may not be accurate now but it gives a non-tech overview. Also you may be interested to know that Chromium is used by a heap of the major browser suppliers. Here is a list of 10 I found here - although the 'best' will differ based on the definition being used to say something is better than another (being 7ft tall is best in the NBA, but far from the best if you are a jockey ):

Google Chrome
Microsoft Edge
Iron Browser
Epic Privacy Browser
Colibri
Blisk
Brave
Vivaldi
Opera
Chromium.

But thanks anyway. I was only looking around in the forums to see what people had to say about using Chrome Store extensions. Have started installing a few (without reading their privacy and terms) and will see how they go. Cheers.

So perhaps a better way to word the question may have been 'does Chromium collect in personal information and share it with google?'
