I did this a lot to block annoying signature banners and avatars in posts on some message boards I visit.

Is there a similar feature in Opera 24 because near as I can tell there isn't. Which this is very helpful as many forums have posters in them lots of annoying animated avatars and numerous signature banners.

I really miss this function! Why did you take it away!!!
What is AdBlock? Do I need to install even more software to do what an older version of Opera used to do.
I had to download some stuff to IMPORT my bookmarks too :-(((((

It wasn't "taken away"... it simply wasn't incorporated in the new browser design. The philosophy of the new design (as with many other current browser designs) is to create a basic browser framework where the user installs a (sometimes) wide variety of customization extensions to cause the browser to possess the end functionality the user seeks. Some of us may not like that philosophy, but it is the way it is in the current browser culture.

Just tried it in Opera (Dev) 25 and it works pretty good.

Just animated images in people's avatars/signatures pn various message boards. :sigh: That was a nice feature of Old Opera. I'm getting more and more used to this new version but there are so many little things in this that I miss in the old version that makes surfing in New Opera a little frustrating. (No tab-stacking, no content blocking, no having a clicked link open automatically open in a new tab rather than having to remember to either middle-click or right-click and select the "new tab" option.)
