Opera is not following Windows standards, and possible bug (or incompetent design decision) prevents context menu from offering exit out of full screen.

Work-around until Opera fixes the bug:
Try to get to the 'Settings' page. This context menu seems to be available while in settings page.

In the settings page, right click (context menu) on the left side of the page will show the 'exit full screen' option.

Hope this helps and saves a reduces the swear words being sent to Opera design folks.

On most laptops and many multimedia keyboards, the mulrimedia functions are primary and the actual F-keys require you press and hold an Fn key to access the F-key functions. So Fn+F5 is F5 (Reload), Fn+F1 is Help, and yes Fn+F11 is Toggle Fullscreen.

Or - at least on my keyboard, you can press Shift+Fn to engage Fn Lock, which makes the F-keys primary and makes you use Fn to access the multimedia keys.

Got stuck in full screen on a windows laptop, same problem others had been describing and offered solutions failed or were unavailable to me. Eventually I figured it out. On this (Lenovo X1) laptop the F keys all have little icons for other stuff they do on them which does not actually trigger the F/Fn key functions. So what you do to trigger the F11 exit full screen function is to hold the 'Fn' key and press F11. Worked first time. Just tested to enter and exit full screen again, very easy. So it was an annoying problem and it should be in the context menu. Theres problem some way I don't know to make the menus appear. But once found, it was an easy way out. Not sure how it would work on my Mac Mini with a PC keyboard and I don't have an Apple laptop to check. But Fn+F11 does the trick no problem. Hope you found this answer first instead of all the others that don't seem to do it!

I was enjoying Opera GX as a browser, till I "fullscreened" a certain Gx.gaming site game. Now it's stuck in full screen. Can't F11/F12 to reduce the size back to normal, can't close the software with alt-F4, And when I finally gave up and hit Cntrl+Shift+Esc, and ended task, i noticed that there were (23) Opera GX instances running, while I was just playing a game. What the hell? So ...yeah I dunno about Opera GX, seems a little Kooky to say the least.

@leocg This is a well known, old problem. The following 'locked' thread has more details.
https://forums.opera.com/topic/25654/opera-stuck-in-full-screen-no-way-out

I created a new problem, and gave my work-around because the original thread is locked and I cannot add.

As for when it happens, I am not sure. I touched something, maybe F11, and it went into full screen. I assumed that Esc would get me out, it didn't. I had to 'Alt-Tab' and go to a different window and google in Firefox, and came across that forum entry above, with no solution. I killed Opera, relaunched, still stuck, and no 'Exit full screen' etc. option anywhere. I went into settings because it was possible and there I see the 'Exit... ' in context menu.

Just implement 'Esc' or add 'Exit Full Screen' in the context menu, please.

Yes indeed -- tablet mode forces your computer to work like an iPad, where everything is always full screen. Some people only use Windows if it acts like an iPad.
