Yes, you can hear with the screen off.

Following is the procedure

Open youtube in the Desktop version, start the video, minimize Opera or open a new tab. If audio stops, swipe from the top of the screen, to get where you can turn on/off wifi, and press the plays arrow. That's it.

I think he is not asking regarding Opera for PC/Desktop he is asking how can we minimize the YouTube on Opera for Android, But if you are an android user then you can also use YouTube Vacned.

the toggle moved, making the Setting Appear off. Which it was for other sites. But being logged into YT then YT kept the desktop mode.

Worked but couldn't Exit back to mobile. Had to log out/in to YouTube. Hassle.
