[Request]Any chance of Ecosia being added as a default search engine?

I'm unsure if this has already been brought up; my apologies if it has.

As far as I'm aware, you can't set custom search engines as your default in Opera GX for security reasons. This is understandable, and completely fine, but the current selection of search engines is very limited. I far prefer using Ecosia over other search engines, and unlike many other browsers that enable me to set it as my default, it's not available on this one.

Opera GX has quickly become my favourite web browser, but this issue has just stuck out like a sore thumb to me. Is there any chance Ecosia will be added to the list of default search engines in any coming updates? Thank you for any input.

But you can add custom search engine and select it as default.
Go to "Settings (LAlt + P) > Search Engine > Manage search engines > Other search engines > [Add]" . After you added you need to go "Settings (LAlt + P) > Search Engine > Set which search engine is used when searching from the combined search and address bar" and chose your.

oh i wasn't fully pay attention. you are right you can't choose custom search engine as default.

I registered just to comment on this thread. I'd very much like Ecosia to be added. Either that, or allow us to set custom search engines as default. I tried editing the Opera GX files, but I got a .pak error (possibly checksum mismatch), so I had to revert my changes.
