<![CDATA[No mail or notification sounds in Ubuntu 12.04. Anyone know a fix?]]>Hi. I set my mail & notification sounds in Opera 12.16 but don't hear anything at all when mail arrives or when I click test. All the sounds are .wav format. I'm using Elementary OS Luna which uses Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on the backend. Thanx.

pulseaudio -k
pulseaudio --start

I'm not sure if Opera uses ALSA or pulseaudio but you could try a similar trick with Opera. Just a guess.
