I installed Opera with the package provided on the Opera website and not through my OS maintainer's repository. I use Kubuntu. This method of installation adds the opera repo into /etc/apt/*

Maybe my version is different to your own.

I'm not 100% certain of that. I use Chrome and Opera. I'm not seeing the same behaviour in Chrome. Both browsers are up to date. The difference between the browsers might be in the implementation of the new Chromium behaviour.

I use a tab manager to put tabs to sleep. I really don't want the browser to force reload tabs when I switch between multiple active tabs. For me it's a matter of tab stability. I can't do my job with a browser that keeps unloading tab content whenever I change tab focus. I see and appreciate the intent behind the behaviour but I feel it is poorly executed.

Is there a way to set the timeout counter before unfocused tabs lose their content?
