To tell you more precisely what I want, I've selected Downloads/pentax/test1 subdirectory where I'm keeping old photos.

Traditionally if you want to view any of those images you might click one of them only. It would appear in another tab. Fig.2. shows that result using "Show tab previews" option.

I hasn't been satisfied with such limited image viewing mode for several years. I've started to dream about a button switching on/off "Thumbnails view" in web browser(s). I knocked to other browsers team to no avail, e.g. Vivaldi. In short - I wanna have similar option you may found in Total Commander for example. I simulated the option primitively in Fig.3.
Fig.3. (instead of ../pentax/ dir there should be .../pentax/test1/)

It be nicer if the button was associated with setting option where you could define thumbnails target - either new/this tab in Opera, or external application/image viewer. Opera shows directory content in a tab, so every data to see the thumbnails in external software exist.

Implementing the option user might preview images inside Opera browser, ditching out the "stone era" clicking and clicking method looking at images one by one only. Of course, clicking any of those thumbnails one could open it in next/this tab in full view.

Cheers
