It would have been nice if you sent me a message, or just put the translation underneath.
Hallo,
If you delete my post, because I don't understand yours in this translation, then maybe next time please let me know, so I know why; furthermore I wanted to write to you, with a PN, doesn't work either, because you deactivated it. Also as a mod you could (maybe) be reachable if users have questions. Delete and move posts, that seems to be your hobby

I do know that in stock markets, there are folks who sell stocks 'short" at a current market price (without actually owning it, but promise to deliver it to the buyer at some future point in time) and hope to profit if the future stock price goes down before they must purchase it to cover their sale. In some cases, short sellers have tried aggressively (and even illegally) to use scare tactics to drive the stock's price down so their cost to cover the short sale will be greatly reduced, hence their profit much higher.

I'm not a lawyer, but the serious and directed nature of the Hindenburg Report's accusations about Opera, if not based in fact, would certainly call for Opera's legal action against Hindenburg in the realms of both attempted stock manipulation and libel. The question is what, if anything, Opera will do in response. If there is no Opera response other than a PR statement, I will be greatly concerned.

and data will be published here

I never said that Opera publishes my or private user data here or anywhere in the forum!

But I said that the Opera VPN is not secure because it is still possible to track where the user has logged in with the appropriate tools.
You can easily trace the location, the IP is visible in many cases, and the correct location (according to the IP) is not always shown.
Also, Opera VPN does not work if a location is selected correctly; if I select Asia, a location in Europe will be displayed, for example, if I select USA, Opera VPN will display a location in the Netherlands.
So for me this is not a good approach to use the integrated VPN.

As a private user I found Opera to be a good browser. However, since I had to realize that the VPN is not secure and data is published here that allegedly cannot be read over VPN, I decided long ago not to use the VPN of Opera anymore.

Everything else, should Opera feel publicly attacked here, the company management will have it clarified by its legal department.
The individual user has no influence on this.

It's a pity that such takeovers have to take place at all, because in these cases it's all about pure profit and profit maximization ...

This was the last straw. After reading the article linked above, I decided to remove opera from all my devices. It's sad a once well regarded company has sunk so low to this level. It should come as no surprise. Ever since the company was sold to a Chinese consortium, it has never been the same. I'm wary of using any product from companies owned by people or entities based in China. Opera ceased to be a Norwegian company when it was sold many years ago. This is now owned and run by the Chinese. You see the result as in almost every other product coming out of China. Had been using Opera browsers for well over 15 years. In the last several years, however, I had been using it less and less. There are other worthy options. I don't see any need for Opera on my systems anymore. The offered VPN is a joke.

If the accusations are indeed unfounded, one would certainly expect Opera to take rapid legal action against Hindenburg.
