@leocg I'm sorry, I should clarify that I meant background updates. They never download or install. I can update manually by going to the update menu, but I never get them unless I do that.

Same thing for me, but it's always been that way. However, I'm subscribed to the https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/ RSS feed in Thunderbird and I check for updates manually a lot. I probably never give the updater time. I see in the Windows Task Scheduler that the updater is set to run at startup and at 1:45PM every day.

Now, Opera GX does indeed update by itself without me starting it. Its task is set up the same as Opera Stable only a different time. But, I don't run Opera GX much, so it probably actually has a chance to do its job.

For Opera Stable, Opera Beta, and Opera Developer though, I don't think they have ever updated themselves automatically (except on first run when making standalone installations). I don't think they've ever notified me there's an update and asked me to download it either. Chrome on the other hand updates itself regularly without me knowing it and I use Chrome all the time.

With that said, I was just under the impression that Opera's updating doesn't work as well as Google's and never really gave it much more thought.
