I stopped using it when the multi-pane (viewing multi-tabs in one window) feature was removed. I am not a programmer or coder, in fact , I possess no technical skills on computing. I created simple script in Autohotkey which sends Ctrl + Click to Opera when you use Shift Click.
Not an ideal solution, but it's much easier for me, than trying to figure out all that Opera API stuff.
Also this script makes me kind of protected from any other "extension breaking" crap Opera developers may implement in future updates.

I've long since given up on it ever getting published.

If you want to try the latest version, you can download it from here: https://github.com/ChaosinaCan/ClassicTabs/releases/tag/v2.0.1-rc.0

I do not plan to keep maintaining the extension, as Opera won't publish my updates and I mostly use Edge now. If anyone else wants to maintain it, feel free to fork it on GitHub.
