<![CDATA[What happens to files when using Opera as a viewing tool?]]>Hello everyone 🙂

I noticed a while ago, that I can open images / pictures with Opera (used as viewing tool)

When right clicking on a PNG-file, "open with" and chose Opera, the browser is then used as a viewing tool.
Does the Opera browser then upload the data / picture to their server?
Or is only being handled local / on my own computer?
And what about in offline-mode?

It'll say "file:///C:/Users/yourusername/Desktop/test.png" for example. That means Opera is just loading it locally as any other image viewer would.

Nothing happens to the file, they are not sent anywhere. Years ago Windows used IE as default viewer for certain image formats, and at the time it was normal for alternative browsers to take over that file association when set as default browser. That part is no longer common, but it is still true that browsers can be set as default handler for images.
