Оказалось, что работает это расширение как ни странно, когда включен ещё к тому же и гудбайдипиай в обычном режиме (для ютуба другой режим) - тогда появляется соответствующая кнопочка в авире "обезопасить соединение". А без гудбайдипиайя - да уже действительно почему-то не работает.
