<![CDATA[Stop autoplay of inline videos]]>Could you finally add the most basic feature for the user to be able to disable autoplay of inline videos on webpages? Even Safari has it already implemented - when I visit one of these aggressive webpages that start a video playback with sound right after you hit enter in the address bar, at least the audio if off by default.

I would like to be able to decide when, if at all, the video will be started, so add a big gray play button with some level of opacity on the layer above the video thumbnail and let it wait for a user action.
OR at least make it an optional setting if you really need to "support" this offensive behavioral pattern in modern web browsing.

I don't want to install any third party extensions for HTML5 autoplay blocking, because it is unreasonable to be forced to grant data access to all pages just because you happen to not implement this obvious feature.

You'd have to grant access to all the data on all the webpages to such programs and that is not secure. Safari has all the options to stop autoplay in the hidden "Debug" menu (Yes, not "Develop" but "Debug" menu") and I think Opera as a very thoughtful and user-oriented browser deserves having that kind of functionality too.

With Safari you can set other sites besides those listed never to autoplay. For Slimjet and Opera, I had to add an extension to stop autoplay. With SeaMonkey and Pale Moon, I set autoplay enable to false, but I have an extension that lets me toggle that. Some pages actually require autoplay to play any media at all.
