<![CDATA[Taskbat Pin doesn't work]]>Weird problem, when i pin opera GX to the taskbar and close it, not only does it remove the opera gx shortcut, it also removes the existing opera shortcut. Doesn't happen if I just pin Opera to the taskbar , running WIndows 10 1903

  • right click on the opera desktop icon
  • add to taskbar
  • open Opera
  • close opera
    Results: the icon is no more present on the Windows taskbar

For me I noticed that if I pin it then close the browser it stays pinned. If I open the browser again and close it it unpins itself.

1°) Go to the installation folder of Opera GX
2°) Right click on "launcher.exe" => send to => Desktop (shortcut)
3°) Move the new shortcut in the installation folder of Opera GX
4°) Rename the shortcut "Opera GX" for more visibility
5°) Drag the new shortcut from the installation folder of Opera GX to the taskbar and unpin the Opera (classic if is already pin
6°) Enjoy!

The default path for the regular Opera Browser is C:\Program Files\Opera , and for Opera GX is C:\Users\YourUserHere\AppData\Local\Programs\Opera GX .

Open Opera, pin it to the task bar, closes it, open from the pinned icon, this icon disappears and I have to pin again. I tried to re-install it twice, tried to change the installation folder and to "install for all users", but nothing worked. Hope to find a fix soon cause its very annoying. Windows 10 v1903 here.

For some reason the Opera icon vanished, but when I ran Opera from a shortcut the pinned icon came back (without me pinning it myself).

I don't know about GX, but we learned long ago that you can't pin Opera that way. If the installer doesn't create a taskbar icon for you, you can't do it yourself.

Exactly how it works is I pin it to taskbar, close GX, it still looks pinned. But clicking icon to run Opera immediately unpins the icon. Windows 1903 here.
