Create your own "sidebar"

I really liked the old way to use sidebar (hide but still be able to use on speed dial) and I hope they fix this soon. But in order to keep using Opera, I had to improvise. So, I created bookmarks for every shortcut I use in the sidebar:
Bookmarks > opera://bookmarks/
Downloads > opera://downloads/
Extensions > opera://extensions/
History > opera://history/
News > opera://news/
And a few others...Every bookmark has it's own icon and you can put it on speed dial.
Bookmarks:
Speed Dial:
I hope I have helped someone.

Interesting alternative, however I agree that the sidebar should have never been removed from the speed dial. Its infuriating that Opera forces users to always have a sidebar that is completely useless while web browsing, but remove it in the one place that makes sense.
I would also go as far as to advocate that turning on the sidebar after every update regardless of settings is not serviceable. I cannot count the amount of service calls I get about turning it off on the countless machines i've deployed Opera to.
