Thanks . I don't know why but HTC One M8 was realesed with Android and Windows Phone (not dual boot) and this site made battery comparison between them, the conclusion was Windows Phone has a better hardware management. Windows phone is a great system but does not get so much attention. I use Android but I would prefer to use other.

I love the Windows Phone. Currently my wife and I are nearing the end of our HTC 8x contract with our carrier and we'll opt for new phones. Unfortunately, what we want (Lumia 930) is unavailable through our carriers here in NA so we'll jump over to AT&T and go for the Lumia 830 as a second-best choice for us. The HTC ONE M8 is a nice phone and I'm tempted by it but I love the camera on the Lumia phones so that's the deal-breaker for me.

Lumia phones are really great. Windows phone has a smooth interface that does not lag like Android (which latest versions are smoother than previous).

Microsoft have also now produced a fitbit band that looks interesting. If I know our son, we'll get a couple for Christmas. Then again... he may think we're too old to "get fit"... haha. You're right about the Windows OS. In my view it is the best but unfortunately it came late to the party and now is having to play catch-up to iPhone and Droid. Still... when February rolls around, we'll continue with Windows phone by getting the 830 even though my preference would have been for the 930. I've heard rumors of other flagship Windows phones coming in 2015 but so far they're only rumored.

There were any improvements regardings apps? I had (in fact i still have) a Lumia 920 and my biggest problem with it was the lack of applications and also the fact, discovered later, that some applications had (have?) limitations not seen on their Android versions.

Windows phone came lately, therefor it has less apps then others systems. Limitations in apps are a app developer problem not the system.

Does anyone know an alternative to Windows Media Player (except MPC-HC)?

I've read once that they were caused by MS imposed limitations.
Maybe quality control?

I don't think so.
Me neither. I read in an article (in TecMundo) about the recent achievement of Windows store and phone store (they have more than 500000 apps) that Microsoft wasn't doing quality control to have more apps.
