<![CDATA[default webpage should be my homepage.]]>i still use win 7/64. how do i configure opera so the default web page is my home page?
how do i set it like firefox so it does not remember history?
any other settings i should consider?

Disable promoted speed dials if this is what you are talking about. Or maybe speed dial suggestions.

In your forum settings. That you reach by clicking on you avatar at the top right.

Goto the URL opera://settings/onStartup, select "Open a specific page or set of pages", click "add a new page" and type in the URL of the page you want. That will make Opera start up with just your homepage open in a tab. But, if you do that Opera won't remember all your open tabs. Maybe that's what you want though.

Note though, that won't affect what happens when you open a new tab or click the start page button on the address bar. Those will still open the start page.

If you want to add a Home button to the address bar, you can install this extension. The extension has another option to override what loads in a new tab, but that's not permitted in Opera, so that part won't work.
