I click on a file it should have an option to open it vs save and then open. Less clicks is always better.

(And actually, you don't have to search around and find the file to open it, just check the downloads pop-up at the top right of the browser and double-click an item from the list you wish to open.)

For opening PDFs within the browser window (another thing for which topics already exist) you need to have a plug-in installed to handle the PDF, e.g. Adobe Reader, or Foxit, etc, or an extension like PDF.js. Do you have one of them?
Type "opera:plugins" in the address field and press Enter to check the installed plug-ins.
