Oh, and being able to change font size (or set a minimum - again possible in Classic) would be splendid too.. 🙂

Right, because it was a Opera Classic feature. The new Opera for Android doesn't have a setting called "user agent" and that's why i've used those words.

Yep, on the old Opera Mobile (now Opera Classic) it was calledf "user agent". It was an option to change between mobile and desktop.

It's not a thing of the latest stable. It was never available when Off-road (Mini) is enabled in any stable version. In the beta you can change it even when Off-road is enabled because the compression method is a new tech not based on Mini (the same is true for the text wrap and the pop-up blocker options).
