<![CDATA[Opera 21 Terrible Lag!]]>Recently Opera (21.0.1432.67) has been lagging lately....not just your average lag mind you but really badly, to the point where my entire system freezes up! and it doesn't stop, I literally have to force reboot my PC with the physical reboot key on the case each time it happens, and it doesn't happen all the time now...'eventually'. It only happens with Opera (and version 21 at that), I'm guessing that it's a memory leak maybe ? Anyway if anyone has any info that can help or have experienced something similar then please by all means....btw I'm running Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64bit.

What makes you come to this conclusion ?.

Why the flash works well in the browser. Passed the test from the Adobe site, other applications. And never had problems with it.

When resumed, the browser is very slow, locking heavy pages like youtube.

Looks like it's a memory problem.

The solution has been to restart the browser.

He improved reasonably in Opera 22. But it's still something chronic. Chrome is also the same problem. It seems to be a problem in the engine.

I used to be able to have 30-40 tabs open in OPera and no lag. Now it's horrible with just a handful of tabs open.

Every time I opened a new tab Opera lag or freeze some seconds, 10 to 30 sometimes even more. It also happened when I tried to write in the address bar. Tried disabling extension and cleaning my speed dial but nothing worked. Then I just reinstalled Opera 20 end everything is working fine. There's something really wrong with Opera 21.

Yes, the problem continues with an empty SD-list.

Have you tried with a new profile folder? Rename the current one, so Opera will create a new one, and see if the lag still happens.

Also Win 8.x 64bit. I realized it just freezes with certain pages (Facebook being one,der-postillion.com and ashwinder.sycophanthex.com others, all three work in Firefox). At first it starts off as a really long loading time and then turns into freezing opera and eventually the entire system.
Funny thing: I haven't changed a thing with opera except updating. It has only become this worse lately though.
Any ideas? I pretty lost with this, especially as my knowledge about computers is pretty basic. I tried clearing the cache first thing but it didn't help.

I've noticed that browser unfreezes after a time (10-30 minutes).

You don't have to do that. You just need to discover then what plug-in or extension is hanging your PC and disable/uninstall it from opera:plugins and opera:extensions.

Whenever I open Opera 21, It also starts anywhere from 5-10 Opera processes. I wouldn't have known it if I didn't start task manager and look at processes tab. I just go in and delete all the lower memory ones and leave the highest memory Opera process. Terrible way to have to use it , but I then have a usable browser. Anyone have any ideas why that is happening?
