<![CDATA[win8.1 firewall]]>With windows firewall enabled, even after adding Opera to list of permitted applications, Opera doesn't access internet. After a long wait, it puts up the message about checking to make sure that no proxy server has been set. Implication is this message display is erroneous given that those settings are blank. Tried removing and reinstalling from current supplied download.

So you might want to check that. Also I've been fixing computers for over 15 years and sometimes if a premium version of an anti virus is not paid for, updated and/or activated they can interfere with normal Internet access.

So check your anti virus. Just a suggestion.
