I had to toggle location off (Block) and then back on (Allow).

If the problem remains,
look at How to report problems in Opera.

  • Opera Help > Crashes and issues.

btw, location does work on all other browsers, which isolates the issue to Opera only, I suppose.
The issue persisted after resetting Opera and turning AdBlock estension off.
