Retain window position and size upon restart.

Hello Opera Forums,
I would like to know how to instruct Opera to retain it's position and size upon restart. I do not choose to open the browser maximized, but have it open as it was upon closing it. I'm sure I just did something wrong or unchecked something I should not have.
My Opera info:
Version: 53.0.2907.106 - Opera is up to date
Update stream: Stable
System: Linux Mint 18.3 (x86_64; X-Cinnamon)
Browser identification
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/66.0.3359.170 Safari/537.36 OPR/53.0.2907.106 -

Do other programs remember window position and size? On Linux, a lot depends on which desktop you use - which your info lists as Cinnamon. While I've never actually used Cinnamon, there may be settings in it that determine how it places new windows on the screen ... look around and see.

sgunhouse,
Thanks for the suggestion. Firefox and Vivaldi both opened in whatever position and size I closed them in so I never thought to look into Cinnamon settings. I assumed the issue was internally within Opera. I was wrong.
After your suggestion, I navigated to System Settings/Windows/Moving and Resizing Windows/Location of Newly Opened Windows and changed that setting from automatic to manual and Opera now opens where and at what size it was last.
Thank you.

The above quit working, for some reason, and reverted back to opening minimized/too small for me, and not the size or position that I desired. To remedy this, I have found another solution. This solution, oddly, requires a tab, any tab from any site you wish, to be permanently pinned.
After pinning a tab, Opera will then remember it's size and position upon reopening in Mint Cinnamon regardless of the settings choice in System Settings/Windows/Moving and Resizing Windows/Location of Newly Opened Windows.

I tried to edit the post above for clarity but time elapsed and I was no longer allowed to do that.
Basically, if you are using Mint Cinnamon, all you have to do to have Opera open in any position and size you wish is to permanently pin a tab. It can be any tab you wish.
Edit the opera.desktop file at local/share/applications at the sixth line, under [Destop Entry], to this:
Exec=opera %U
and save the file. Log out of your computer and back in and it should work fine. Just make sure to have a tab pinned.
