As many people know, Windows 10 contains the "Controlled folder access" feature.
New versions of Opera are installed in different program folders and each time I have to authorize Opera to access the folders of my documents, otherwise the PC will not allow to save.
This is very annoying.

I eventually switched it off as I got so tired of having to endlessly manually add exceptions to it.
It doesn't even let things access the desktop FFS, and the desktop, like all other Windows folders deemed critical by Microsoft, cannot be excluded from the feature. Considering that virtually all installers expect to write shortcuts to the desktop, which this feature now blocks, seems to indicate to me that Microsoft didn't really think this feature through!

I had already tried it with Launcher.exe, but it wasn't enough.
I hope the Opera developers read my post.

Are you able to specify launcher.exe as opposed to an opera.exe in a specific version folder? Not sure how the Controlled Folder Access feature will handle that, but it's worth a shot. If that doesn't work, then you're probably out of luck unless Opera changes how it loads itself.
