Should I trust Bytefence?

Several days ago I was browsing around and was interrupted by Bytefence popup. I clicked it without thinking and it started scanning my computer for errors and malware. In fact, it managed to find several issues, such as PUPs and similar not-so-malicious viruses that I have been sruggling with for a while. However, then it asked me to buy its license. Should I? There are several well known blogs, such as this guide, this or this that have been calling it a virus, but its page seems nice and respectable. I am messed up.

I don't recognize it, and this isn't the area to talk about third-party programs. If you want to post in the "Lounge" to ask for advice, feel free to do so.. (But there are plenty of examples of what they call "scare ware" - software that uses scare tactics to convince you to buy it, but might be completely useless or even bad.)
