I don't really mind to watch YouTube movies in the browser, but when it comes to my banking apps, I really need those! Firefox for instance gives you the choice and that's really nice. Is this option being developed?

However, since software and browser features are constantly being updated and improved, it's possible that Opera may have implemented this option in a newer version.

To check if this feature is available in the current version of Opera, I recommend you to do the following:

Update Opera: Ensure that you have the latest version of Opera installed on your device. Go to the Opera website or your app store to check for updates.

Settings: Open Opera and go to the browser settings. Look for any options related to link handling or external apps.

Search online: If you can't find the feature in the settings, try searching online for recent Opera updates or release notes. Look for any mention of the ability to open links in external apps.

Browser Extensions: Check if there are any browser extensions or add-ons available for Opera that provide the functionality you are looking for. Sometimes, third-party developers create extensions to add specific features to browsers.

If you can't find a built-in option or an extension that suits your needs, you might want to consider providing feedback to Opera through their official channels. Many software companies take user feedback into account when planning future updates and features.

Please keep in mind that my information might be outdated, and I don't have real-time browsing capabilities... So, I suggest checking Opera's official website or support forums for the most up-to-date information on the availability of this feature.

Reddit Links don't open in my Reddit app. I can only choose to open them in the default app when I click them even though Chrome readily opens them for me in Reddit is Fun.

YouTube links don't open in YouTube. This is pretty frustrating because I use YouTube Vanced which allows for background play, etc.

Honestly the only reason I use Opera anymore is because it's the only browser that has decent text wrapping/text reflow. This used to be default in Android webview until Google forced it away to try to make more websites roll out decent mobile views. However what Google didn't realize is that people with visual problems like myself have a hard time seeing pages and when you zoom in it sucks having to scroll left and right.

However a recent update to Chrome added the zoom option right in the menu so if you need to scale up the text it's a lot easier these days and you don't need to dig in the menu every time.

Not to mention Opera on desktop and Mobile keep adding ton of useless features that bogged down the browsing experience. I don't want to built in VPN when I subscribe to my own.

I also sometimes find web pages that don't support opera. Sometimes they will outright not let me view the page if I don't switch to Chrome. Other times certain functions just don't work. For example I had to upload medical records from a CD in my CD drive to my doctor's office using a web app. Even though I kept browsing for my d drive and selecting the CD it wasn't detecting the images. I thought the website was fucked up. Then I decided to try it in Chrome and it worked first try.

Is text wrapping worth all these shortcomings when Google has the zoom feature anyway that mitigates most of the pain? I wish the zooming would work on the fly but what they have is pretty decent.

This thread is already quite old, but for everyone who is reading this in 2022, and asking themselves this question: They have already added this feature, although it's not really obvious.

You can open external apps by clicking on the shield icon, and choosing the option "Open im external app". This works only on certain websites, though, such as YouTube.

Of course, it's still pretty inconvenient because it doesn't work with the majority of the apps, but who knows, maybe they will add more apps soon?

Why can't Opera just combine the features of their android browsers? For me it would be the best browser if they do it tbh.

I can't open external links with Opera for Android. For exemple, when I'm in a payment app and want to go to the store associated, I go to Opera and it doesn't open the store's app. I just wanted to know if there's a solution for this. If not, I'd like to say that you, developer from Opera, please include this feature on a next update, because this is a basic feature from other browsers.
