I was asked about that feature and I remember someone in this forum or in the blog mentioned an extension that actually does it. (You pin a tab and it preserves its original size.) Although I have searched here and in the addons and a bit in Chrome's extension I couldn't find the aformentioned, so if anyone remembers/uses it he/she would be of great help
