Today, I could not refresh or open any new tabs. I exited Opera and could not restart it. I tried to run as administrator, I upgraded. I cannot get Opera to start. Nothing shows in task manager, nothing showed in task manager when it stopped working. I have rebooted. Does anyone have any ideas? I did not uninstall, as I'm afraid to lose data, but expect that since upgrading did not work that uninstalling will be about the same. Does anyone have any ideas? I have found several older posts about this, but no resolutions.

I wasn't able to start Opera in any way. I didn't want to to lose all data so I have been looking for workaround on web with no luck. Finally i found out "how to". Here's how I solved the issue without opera reinstalling.

Open install folder of Opera e.g.: "C:\Program Files\Opera"

Inside this folder find folder which name consist of version number, e.g.: "52.0.2871.99", open it

Find "installer.exe" and Run it

It will open installer, with an "Update" option, click next and proceed

Update install will mostly repair all corrupted files, registry keys and etc...

I know it isn't solution for every situation, but it could help.
As I see, you got this issue 4 months ago, so i suppose you've already made a clear installation, so I post this as possible solution for another peoples facing same issue.
