I wanted to let you all know that the moment of migrating to new Opera Forums is very near (1-2 weeks).
Here's what you need to know:

All accounts and content will be transferred over. You will still log in using your Opera Account as you do now (so your passwords safely remain on auth.opera.com servers and are NOT part of the migration process).

The forums category layout is going to change: we are going to have English as a primary language for all categories and consequently we will drop the idea of having each category in each language. There will be a dedicated place for discussions in your native language (plus we're adding French and Arabic to the list) so non-English speakers will still have a place to go

We are basing on an entirely new, modern forums engine (NodeBB) which means: speed, cool new features and active development. We hope you'll like it!

For the duration of the migration we will need to lock this forums into read-only mode. There will be an info box that explains it while it happens. We will also try to notify you all 2-3 days in advance, once we're 100% sure when the migration will take place.

Please let us know if you have any more questions or concerns regarding the migration

@zalex108 One easy way I can think of would be using a sticky post in each category - huge advantage is that it does not require any Forums code modifications (we currently don't have time for it, unfortunately). Downside - it's definitely less visible. But it's something
Remaining issue would be to have the message translated in each of the Local forums language.

I can help you with that.

Something most crucial or important getting indexed in Google and such, or/and shared on appropriate pages on Facebook and such.

There could be a statistics page placed BEFORE a user chooses their language forum, showing how many whatnots blah-blah-blah in various language sections in comparison. Or not. I mean not to bother everybody, one could skip it or we just have it somewhere in the navigation, like a beautiful button. Or a monthly e-mail digest having it.

Anyway, in my humble opinion, if someone can access the Internet, let alone OperaForums, they must understand themselves that knowing English is a worthy idea
If it were like that I'd done it right away, but since this requires some coding work, all I can do it add it to our backlog of ideas to implement.

I am not sure though if a banner in English will really help people who don't speak it well enough to post a question
Translating it into each language would be better, but for that many languages we would need to hire someone to do the translation (cost -> less likely to be implemented).

Can anyone tell me why infinite scroll

It really means to lazily load comments. Or, load comments on demand. It's basically what Facebook and Youtube do for example. The page loads a few posts and only loads when you scroll down for them.

It helps with performance (both client side and server side). And, it allows you to have all comments on a single page where you don't have to keep on clicking next, and where you don't have to wait for a zillion comments (as in, all of them) to load to really work with the page. It really sucks for searching though.

Anyway, there are pros and cons. I think it's a nice default though.

I don't know if it's considered finished yet, but it'd still be nice to have the link to the post at the very top of the message. If not the very top, maybe at least make the word "reply" or "posted a reply" be a link to the post. Or, if https://forums.opera.com/assets/images/emails/header.png was an image instead of a background, make the image be a link to the post.

For example, for RSS feeds in Thunderbird, there's a "Website": header displayed as the last header in the header toolbar, which makes the link to the article appear right above the message. It's so awesome that way. There's no standard, supported way to do that with a regular email, but having the post link be at the top of the body would be great. Opera M2 didn't do this for RSS feeds, which is why SmartRSS added it, and it's super nice.
