google search result changed display.

  • cleaning cookies didn'y help. User-Agent switcher did, thanks

  • Hi there, having the exact same problem and already suspecting the user agent recognition from Google server. I dont know which end that contribute to this error, whether it's Opera or Google. I'm pretty much enjoyed using Opera Next, so NO, i wont change my browser to anything else.

The addons solve the problem, but, truthfully, i'm hoping that this bug fixed soon,,

    My regards to Vendimia,

  • To put an end to speculations:

Google started sniffing for the new Opera user agent string (OPR)

Some guys from Opera already contacted them and are trying to persuade them to revert this nonsense.

Reeks of anti-trust violations. I hope the mainstream tech news report this.

  • I got that problem when I do a search in private tabs.

  • probably cause your UA-faker-exension isn't allowed in private tabs...?

  • But I do not use that extension

  • Same problem here with the Google revert and no use of Google images (Just got it today) - Thanks for the extension. Seems to be working for now. I'd prefer they fix the problem so there is no need for the extension. Thanks for the help.

  • Deleting Cookies etc. didn't help, but using User-Agent Switcher did the trick. Looking forward to permanent solution. This is stop gap and probably has to be set for each site just like Opera 12

  • I am having the old Google in normal tab (not private)

  • Change the user agent with this addon: User-agent-switcher

  • Experiencing the same prob. Extension fixed it, I'm so relieved! Thank you vendimia!

  • The same problem here for the last 4 days. It happended when i cleared cookies. After that i have the 2013(old) version of Google. The extension indeed corrects it but this isnt the solution. Im looking forward for Opera to step in and demand from Google to fix this bug.

  • I can confirm that this is annoyingly happening now on OS X as well. Google search results are displayed using the old design. Wow.

Don't really want to change the user agent, as this kind of behaviour reduces Opera's already minuscule share in website visiting statistics even further. Which can't be good for the browser (nor its users) in the long run.

  • well, google suck a$$. whatever they have done has made my google search revert back to the look of the 2000's no extentions work. no add ons work. they suck! can someone sort this out before i cry?

Change the user agent with this addon: User-agent-switcher

  • OK the extension suggested above appears to require activation each time Opera is started. I've found this extension for Chrome which doesn't need to be configured each time you start Opera, you just configure it once and it'll remember the settings. Here's the link: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg

I just choose "Windows Firefox 15" works great. The extension should work in Opera, if not, you need this extension forst (it allows for the installation of Chrome apps into Opera) https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/download-chrome-extension-9/?display=en

One problem I've noticed with both extensions is that everytime you open an image from the facebook string and then close it again, the string goes back to top, now I have to open every string image in a new tab to prevent that.

  • Same here. Clearing all cookies did'n work, but the add-on did. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

  • Unfortunately the add-on isn't a prefect solution. It works perfectly to get google back in line, but when the add-on is active, sites like facebook load very very slowly or doesn't do anything at all.

So I have to switch the add-on on or off for some websites. I too hope they fix this asap.
