Thanks for the help. If I turn the anti virus off and then turn on the VPN I can then Turn the AV back on and all is OK.
I have not used any other VPN prior to using Opera.

Or a plugin instead of an inbuilt one? And as Leocg mentioned, it can be a proxy issue as well. One more thing, make sure your anti-virus is not in paranoid mode, as that can cause sandboxing and denial of connections.

Do you use any proxy to connect to the internet?
