The browser fails to play the videos of cbs.com and mediaset.it always giving the usual message "The browser does not support playing this video".

Block ads unchecked.
What's missing from my rolling archlinux Kde / Opera browser?

Try installing opera-ffmpeg-codecs ( https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/opera-ffmpeg-codecs/ ). This should give you some proprietary video codecs that can be used to display eg. H264-encoded video content.
