Newer versions may behave differently to older versions. If you want to save parts of your old profile (settings, book marks etc.) you need to back these up, renaming the old profile folder may not now be enough. I just cleaned my profile by first renaming the old profile folder, intending to keep it, and the restarted Opera 45.0.2552.881 wiped out the 'saved' folder on restart.

I've just checked here and renaming the current profile folder makes Opera to create a new one as said in the F.A.Q.

Correct! It didn't wipe out the old one as I first thought. I was looking in the wrong place after the restart.

Sorry.

(Right now, read that the user was looking in another folder, so the Profile.old still there)

Another thing could be, add to the FAQ to use prior OSync to avoid user complains and or point them before to here.

To let them know what to backup / copy to rebuild their profiles.
Of course, with the advise about copy some parts may reproduce the problem too.

BTW, may help them to understand about Opera profile and easly manage its files.

Be sure to point your your file browser to: %appdata%. There you'll come across a folder called "Opera Software" which you could consider to be your profile folder. Rename that, or rename the sub-folder called "Opera Stable". Once you did that and started Opera you'll notice a second folder being created.
