This site is encrypted (and maintained?) by the "Opera AS" - which I heard, is no longer doing the browser.

Opera AS is the one who makes the browser.

Opera ASA is the part of Opera that was not bought by the Chinese consortium. They are the Holding that owns AdColony, Surfeasy, Skyfire, etc.
They are no longer responsible for making the browser.

Not to mention that Chinese and Russians are known to be the best programmers in the world. Just look at 360 Secure Browser for example. It has everything you could possibly want built into the web browser without the sluggishness of Vivaldi. I would love to see an Opera browser like that in the future.

If that creates personal risks, then perhaps one should forego that particular discussion (or upload). Just sayin' 😉

Codes can eventually be cracked; cryptographic weaknesses can eventually be discovered and exploited; service providers can be compromised; 'permissible' comments in one era can become 'unacceptable expression' in a later era; and so on. But "data is forever" - particularly when placed onto a public network. Unless one has a deep understanding and practice of high-level encryption and knows precisely who his recipient is, one should never put onto the Internet comments that may come back to haunt one later, whether via VPN, HTTPS, or whatever... unless one is prepared to take a stand and pay the price when or if a day of unexpected disclosure arrives.
