You wanted an extension to add a search box separate from the address box in Opera 20. The closest I've come to that seems to be this extension you could add to Opera from the Chrome store. It is called "Searchbar," and you can find it at the link below.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/searchbar/fjefgkhmchopegjeicnblodnidbammed?hl=en-US

Apparently to search from the bar, all you need to do to display the bar is press the f4 key. Then the search bar comes out. You can add search engines to the bar by going to the website of the search engine, and right clicking on the search bar there. Pressing the f4 key is no big deal. If you don't want to search from the address bar, and want to use your own favorite search engine, this looks like something worth exploring. You can also search from selected (highlighted?) text without having to type the search (a timesaver there)

Now I haven't tried it (so I'm basing it on a description of features of the searchbar), as I like using the Disconnect Search extension that I discussed earlier in this thread. But it does look promising for what you were asking for.

You're delusional. People, who are Opera fans voice their displeasure with the current iteration and you jump on your high horse and try to correct spelling(which didn't need it), tell them that their opinions are wrong, that they are idiots and that they should go play in traffic. You accuse me of being negative while neglecting the positive remarks I made which clearly shows what you are drawn to. Then you run to the mods. You are easily the biggest baby around here.

This is the Opera forum, that means users old and new come here for help and opinions. You yourself suggest people stick with the Presto version for now yet whine when someone prefers it and voices their displeasure with the new one. Just look at this thread, you have yet to address the question the original poster presented in spite of responding 7 times!smh. My first post on the other hand was a direct response to what was being asked. You, as always, only chime in to make it personal, rinse and repeat.

It's good safe-hex to not click on unknown/suspicious links, but if one might need to click on "strange" links, it's best to be sure to always use a fully-patched browser with all scripting shut off, from within an extremely limited user account. In the case of a potential spam link associated with a foreign language, I find it needful to translate the material to determine if it's actually spam in order to report it, in which case I use a really tight browser installation I keep maintained for going in harm's way.

Most of the time, the sites are purely commercial sites that employ spamming as an advertising practice, and the spammer either gets credit for referred clicks (a unique URL) or is working on a paid-per-spam basis for registering and spamming a forum. Consequently, many of these sites turn out not to contain malware at the immediate site level... but the whole disreputable business does take you one major step closer to the bad guys, so it's wise to avoid such sites whenever possible. If a site does contain malware, it's usually either the scripting that gets you in trouble or the exploitation of an unpatched vulnerability in your browser that has been identified from its user-agent string.

However, those who make it personal while wearing some sort of mask of being a pillar are only deluding themselves. Negative is negative, so there really is no point in trying to pretty yours up. Pointing it out in others doesn't overshadow yours, it is what it is.

Benchmark tests are the go to argument from Webkit lovers so this comes as no surprise, it's a broken record really. Restricting the customization of the browser forces people to assimilate their browsing and work behaviours. Some don't mind while others do, that's life, you will always have opposites. Forcing silent updates however is rather Orwellian and now means that the browser will always be contacting "home", but that is a subject for another thread

Actually, the way alreadybanned describes it above was the actual process I used: "the ability to type in a query and then select the search engine to use" I would often type the query look at the drop down list and then choose the best search for it.
