(Reason: It cleans up temps and history files after closing the program.)
I use several Linux installations too, most recently Ubunntu 16.04. But there seems to be no "private" command line switch in the Linux version. (I tried "-private" and "--private".)

All I could find is a -newprivatetab switch, that never behaves as I want it to. What I want after I start Opera up, is to see a single tab containing the speed dail in private mode, so all other tabs I open from there are also private tabs.

What I get instead is either no tab at all - if I enabled that in the settings - or a non-private speed dail in first tab position and another private tab in the second position that is focused.

Questions:

How do get a single private-mode speed dail after start and no other start-up tabs?

Why is the so convenient --private switch in the Linux version not working/implemented?

Thanks in front.

It is strange, I'm on Ubuntu 16.10 and Opera stable starts in private mode if I specify
--private
on the command line. When I tick the "Do not show again" option, I get the Speed Dial and any page I open through it, or via Ctrl+T, opens in private mode.

Which Opera version are you using?
