Just started to download file from http://ovh.net/files/10Gio.dat just for speed test purposes.
After while just cancelled download…
After few minutes Opera first crash.
After few minutes Opera second crash… and so on…
I found that in task bar can see progress, that opera is downloading some file, but when I cleared download manager it's empty – no downloads in progress.
downloading is still there. not visible, only in system manager i can see that Opera process is downloading something with full speed.
I cleared Opera cache, cleared system temp folder, restart Windows … its still there.
Opera starts do download directly after I’m starting it.
It takes over 1GB of RAM after 3 minutes, after 5 minutes takes about 2GB and gets crash, restarts and STARTS DOWNLOADING AGAIN.
The same happens in private window.
And crashes every few minutes
HOW TO MAKE IT STOP DOWNLOADING !!!

I found reason and solution:)
I think it doesn't matter which OS.
I added this page (link to large file) into Bookmarks Bar and that’s enough.
Its start to download file into RAM every time Opera starts, after every crash.
As the solution its NOT enough to remove that bookmark, its necessary to also clear trash.
That’s it
