I guess no one uses email notifications.

I don't have 'Notify me when people start new discussions'and 'Notify me when people comment on a discussion' enabled and I don't get duplicated notifications so I guess the problem may be related to them.

Can you confirm the duplicate emails at mail.google.com? Or, do they only happen in your mail client (which looks like M2)?

Can you confirm the duplicate emails at mail.google.com? Or, do they only happen in your mail client (which looks like M2)?

The last Screen capture it's from Gmail.

 

In M2 I've seen the delay between them it's 28secs.

Not seeing any problem here.
I have the settings set to only send me e-mail notifications if someone adds something to one of my starred threads.
That has always seemed to work fine.

Yes, that option works well, is the one that had activated at the beginning, is the 'Notice of response to any post' that works poorly.

Sorry for the wait (turns out I did not have e-mail notifications for mentions turned on - how ironic).

I have turned on all possible notifications or my account now to see if I can reproduce your issue.

In the meantime can I ask you @zalex108 to forward me an exact raw copy of a sample duplicated e-mail (i.e. download a raw .eml files of the first and second notification of the same event) so that we could try to figure out what triggers the duplicate?

My e-mail is the forum's username + "@opera.com"

OK I managed to reproduce it myself. It seems to e triggered only for "XXXXXX commented on a discussion" e-mail notification. I will try to dig deeper to figure out where the duplicate is coming from when I have a chance. For now, I am afraid, the only workaround is to disable this notification type
