Prior on Marshmallow I was able to use split screen without any issues.

Now when I trybto do it, it states that Opera has not been optimized and that it won't work correctly.

And it doesn't work, if I select the Opera window as the active one the other window "freezes" I set the other window as active Opera goes blank with just a white window displayed.

Before Nougat I could use Google Maps navigation and Opera in a window that updated data every 2 minutes without any issues. Now if I watch my data Navigation is frozen and If I set the active screen to Google Maps the Opera window is blank.

I see. It probably varies with the device. In landscape, I can use the bottom toolbar on my phone but can't see the popup menu on the far right. Being able to see the toolbar seems to depend on how much I resize the other app. If 2nd app takes up more than half of the screen, I can't get to Opera's bottom toolbar.
My phone is brand new & I haven't used split screen before so I'm not sure how it is supposed to behave. Just thought I'd try it out after reading your post.

To work properly app has to support divided screen feature (has to be modified for such using)

Divided screen works on my phone whether Opera is opened 1st or 2nd. Also works in landscape. When I selected Opera for the bottom half, there was a toast note saying the feature might not work with this app, but it worked fine.

While divided screen there's no possibility to reach bottom menu at all!
