I recently bought a new hd and installed an operating system on it. And my old one was just like a simple HD did not format it. Now when I'm using the new hd when I start the opera that was installed on it it disappeared with all my favorites. Is there any way I can retrieve the bookmarks that have disappeared from it without having to boot my old hd just to try to save the favorites?

You need to look at Opera's profile folder and not on the installation folder.

Where are these bookmarks files in the installed opera folder?

Bookmarks is the name of the file. You find it in Opera's profile folder.

Did you have Sync enabled on the old installation?
If so, if you log in with the new one it should download your favourites to the new version of Opera.
If you didn't use sync, the only way is to attach your old drive to the computer, and copy the "Bookmarks" file from the old installation's profile folder into the profile folder of the new installation.
