<![CDATA[Opera 20 for Android]]>The Opera Mini for Android team is happy to announce the release of Opera Mini 20.

Many of you have given us valuable feedback in this forum and especially there have been many suggestions for our download feature. In this version, we have improved the download feature. In the new Downloads, you can see ongoing download speed and more options available for each download item. We also have supported background downloading. Once you start a download, it will complete in the background even after closing Opera Mini.

Another thing you will notice in this version is the new start page news design. Now you can organize your favorite news easier in the start page.

Please take Opera Mini for a spin and leave a comment with any feedback you may have for us.

So I guess we're gonna stick with version 20 for a longer while now.

A little review from me:
The download manager menu is nice, the ability to copy link is very useful, make it easier to move the process to other more stable downloader.
For the performance I've tried downloading a 500MB file from Openload, but in about two hours it stopped in the middle and can't resume whatsoever. From my experience Openload download link alive for 24 hours, so yeah, I don't recommend handling big files in Opera Mini. At least until it get an improvement.

One recommendation from me is the "double tap to zoom in" which instead of fitting the column width it should fit to 100% text size. It's pretty frustrating experience on desktop only sites.

Please accept my fix.

@regnas can you refresh the news (either by the reload button or pull-to-refresh) and try again? It looks like the news articles got expired or the news server is having some problems.

Even by refreshing multiple times and trying several news feed links, the problem persists... In Opera mini 19 it worked fine. (Android 5.1.1 here)

Still I've to use UC Browser for downloading. As Opera Mini improving on downloading feature it's time to see how long I've to use UC besides Opera Mini.
And I have a problem though, I can't login to a website due to Google's Re-Captcha. It's said that I've an old browser & I've to update to new latest browser which supports re-captcha.

It's Re-Captcha v2, maybe Opera Mini supports re-catcha v1 but unfortunately not v2.
Please take a view, & try to do something to get support v2
Moreover, everytime I go to mediafire.com website. It also said than I use an older browser & maybe it cause incompatible issue on that web in some cases.
By the way, I always use Extreme saving mode with Single Column view on.

but i can give you suggestions for opera mini native :

  1. add "open in new tab" and "open in private tab" to the news of the main screen. (headlines) It is very uncomfortable back at every moment to see other news. I will send you my screenshot (suggestion1)

  2. add more countries to the news settings such as: Ecuador , Venezuela , Peru , Chile , Bolivia, Paraguay , etc.

  3. add more configurations : see my screenshot "suggestion3" ...-"page segment " youtube always mobile version " , "page preloading" , " cloud acceleration " (uc browser mini)

So, I'd like to suggest to add "Download link Auto Refresh" feature to fix download resume problem in this case. It will automatically refresh the download link if the link was expired & then get the new url link & can able to resume. Already a video downloader app named "VidMate" has this feature. Also I suggest to add "Download Acceleration" feature. Multiple thread download acceleration feature try to fully utilize the bandwidth to get maximum speed from server & now a days there are so many servers which supports Throttling / Acceleration feature. UC Browser has this download acceleration feature.
Also when I try to download any file the downloading speed isn't stable. I tried to download a file, in Opera Mini I've got 27-390 KBPS & when I try to download the same following file in other browser like UC. I've got 270 to 435 KBPS.
Upgrade the Opera Mini's downloading system so that it can download anything at stable downloading speed.

@lyecan, thank you for very good description of your problem. When I try to download Ubuntu on my phone and then resume the download it works perfectly. In general Opera Mini supports resuming downloads. But there are tons of factors that may be important here, so I would be really grateful if you reported the problem on https://bugs.opera.com/wizard/mini with your e-mail and post ID of the report here.

in my experience this happens when phone RAM gets tight with other active apps use up the available memory, not leaving enough space for mini to keep all tabs/pages open. it's an android/phone ram issue, not so much an intrinsic mini problem

download problems with huge filesizes are common with mini and have been extensively discussed in this forum.
use uc mini for such mega downloads, if you are concerned with privacy you can de-install uc mini afterwards and reload it from the saved .apk file whenever needed.
