  1. can i have a toolbar w/ bookmarks? am currently bouncing back & forth from a speed dial tab to new tabs to manage bookmarks
  2. how to set prefs such as home page, search engines, settings et al

Yes you can have a toolbar w/bookmarks. This can be activated under opera://flags where you can search for "bookmarks"
Noo, don't go there, it's no longer a "flag". It's in Opera menu -> Settings, under user interface.

For search engines you can also right-click any search field in the search webpage.

  • Setting home pages and search engines can be done in opera://settings. Here you just have to read a little about how Operas search engine in the URL bar works etc.
