It was working fine yesterday, but when I booted up this morning, they won't play. I have updated the browser but no change. I updated Flash last evening, but no change. Any suggestions on why this happening and what I can do? You Tube videos play fine. What plugin am I supposed to have that I haven't had before?

Yep, that's it. Opera depends on the OS to play some media codecs and XP doesn't natively supports them so Opera can't play them.

Definitely seems like a problem limited to Flash 23 and Vista and XP. It's also being discussed on Adobe forum.

That is not the problem. As I have set my Flash to be updated manually, so I had not upgraded to the new one.

But I have some similar issues with videos on Twitter (but that started some months ago). I put this down to the fact I am using Windows XP. My opera version is 36.0.2130.80 (at it says it is up to date).

If it's the OS, why was it playing them yesterday and not today?

It can have been a site change, a bug in Opera, there could be lots of reasons.

You would need to provide a few links so people can try to check.

Any way to figure that out?

You would need to go to each plugin page and check it there.

This may be the origin of the problem.

Opera relies on the OS to play some codecs and may not be able to play them if the OS doesn't support the codecs natively.
