      Hi!

Can anyone tell me what - in general terms - is the cause of the error "The page could not be opened."

I get this message several times a day, on a variety of websites, typically news sites, e.g. theguardian.com.

It happens after I have entered a URL and Opera Mini has spent 10+ seconds trying to load the page. I don't think it is a timeout error, because I can still get the error if I have changed the timeout value in the config: menu to a longer value e.g. 60 seconds.

My guess is that the error is related to a weak mobile phone signal.

I never get the problem running a similar version (4.5) of Opera Mini in PC MicroEmulator at the same time.

      My setup is:

      Opera Mini version: v4.4.39012
Handset: Nokia 222 (single SIM version)
      OS: S30+
      Network: EE (T-Mobile UK) 2G

      Thanks for any info!

same here, even with opera mini 19 and android using a 32kbit/s connection.

occasionally opera seems to timeout itself when loading large pages over a slow connection, especially picture-heavy sites are prone to fail to .come up. sometimes several attempts to reload are required, otherwise one has to reduce picture quality or load without pics.

as this seems to happen more frequently nowadays, i suspect that opera might have lowered the server timeout recently, or maybe it's the websites getting fatter and fatter 🙂
